Twitter password reset email: Legit change or phishing hack?

Twitter sends password reset email to many accounts, thanks to a security breach. Or, at least, it looked like a breach, but it may just have been the usual phishing   Twitter says it's sorry for sending email to the wrong people, but warns us all to be on our guard where a password change is concerned. The email read, in part, "Twitter believes that your account may have been compromised by a website or service not associated with Twitter. We’ve reset your password. ... You’ll need to create a new password for your Twitter account."
