On Monday, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer unveiled their new
Office 2013 suite at a launch event in San Francisco. But if you plan on
upgrading and are running Windows XP or Vista then don’t waste your time. In
order to run Office 2013 you will need a PC, laptop or tablet that runs either
Windows 7 or Windows 8. Or if you have a server operating system it will run on
Windows 2008 R2 and the upcoming Windows 2012.
In fact, Windows XP will not be supported at all by 2014
and many companies have not even upgraded to Windows 7 from their XP systems
yet. Microsoft is hoping this requirement for Office 2013 pushes customers to
get their upgrades going.
Minimum requirements for Office 2013 will be a 1 Ghz
processor with 1 GB of RAM for a 32 bit system and 2 GB for a 64 bit system.
You will also need 3 GB of free hard disk space and a DirectX 10 compatible
video card.
