New Delhi: Sony Mobile Communications
has announced the launch of the Xperia ion smartphone in India. The
phone features a 4.6-inch (11.7cm) inch scratch-resistant TFT
touchscreen. Its HD Reality Display with
Mobile BRAVIA Engine is touted to allow crisp images, without any jagged edges.
Priced at Rs 36,999, the Xperia ion runs Google Android 4.0 (ICS) OS. Powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, the phone has 16GB internal storage space. The phone offers microSD card support up to 32GB. It has 1GB RAM.
The Sony Xperia ion sports a 12 megapixel auto focus rear camera with 1080p video recording at 30fps. It also has a VGA front facing camera. The phone will be available in two colours - black and red.
Other features include HSPA, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi, HDMI support and Bluetooth v3.0.
This launch comes soon after the brand brought its line of mid-range Xperia smartphones – Neo L and Go to India last month. While Xperia neo L and Go are already available, users can get hold the Xperia ion starting August 21.
