Nikon launches company's first Android camera Coolpix S800c

Nikon-logo.jpgAs we reported earlier, Nikon's first Android powered camera is here. Dubbed as Coolpix S800c, the camera will go on sale starting next month for $350. There is no word on the India launch or the pricing as of now.
This smart camera features a 10x optical zoom lens, 16 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 3.5-inch OLED WVGA touchscreen, and Android 2.3. It also comes with Wi-Fi connectivity and supports
downloading Android apps via Google Play Store. Nikon also bundles 'My Picture Town' app for uploading images directly to its cloud storage.
The presence of outdated Gingerbread is certainly a downside, when we have Ice Cream Sandwich as well Jelly Bean out in the market.
The S800c comes with 18 filter effects, including the new Toy Camera effect, Pop and Super Vivid color filters, as well as Cross Process and Peripheral Darkening filters.
"With the new Coolpix S800c, Nikon designed a camera for users looking to capture stunning images and videos with a compact digital camera but also want to share their content with their friends and family in a familiar way," said Bo Kajiwara, Vice President of Marketing, Planning and Customer Experience, Nikon Inc.
This is not the first camera with Android on-board, Polaroid also showcased a smart camera with Android at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. Dubbed as Polaroid SC1630, it featured 3X optical zoom, 18 scene modes and 3.2" widescreen display.
