LG Unveils 4.7-Inch Optimus L9 With Translator App

LG today unveiled the LG Optimus L9, a 4.7-inch smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The L9 packs a 1-GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, an IPS display, and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, as well as a VGA camera on the front.
LG touted the L9's slim, metallic build, which comes in at 9.1mm, as well as its 2,150mAh battery.

On the software front, the LG Optimus L9 includes QTranslator, which will scan words, entire sentences, or phrases for instant translations in 44 languages. The My Style Keypad function, meanwhile, will adjust the keypad formation based on whether the user is texting with one or two hands. Finally, QMemo lets users capture, memo, and share their ideas with others using their fingertip or handwriting.

"The Optimus L9 is a great smartphone that appeals to every consumer," Dr. Jongseok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile, said in a statement. "LG will continue to offer differentiated value through the Optimus L9 and strengthen our position in the smartphone market."
Pricing and availability were not released.

The Optimus L9 comes on the heels of the Optimus G, which was announced yesterday. The Optimus G also runs ICS and features a 4.7-inch display, but runs a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor.
The L9 and Optimus G join the other LG Optimus phones unveiled earlier this year: the Optimus L3, Optimus L5, and Optimus L7.
